Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1956, Daniel Jencka has been playing the harpsichord since age sixteen. He studied with early keyboard artist Penelope Crawford, and with Early Music performer and scholar Lyle Nordstrom. Daniel started writing music as a teenager and later studied composition with American composer Stanley Hollingsworth.

Daniel’s playing experience was taken to the professional level in over one hundred concert performances in the environs of Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, and in Windsor, Canada. He co-founded (with recorder and Baroque flute player, Thomas Cirtin,) Flauto e Basso, the Baroque Duo, that repeatedly attracted large audiences at The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Henry Ford Museum, and other major chamber music venues and series. Daniel also played with the Detroit Symphony Bassoon Quartet, and with the Renaissance City Orchestra under Misha Rachlevsky. Daniel moved to Bloomington, Indiana, and later to Atlanta, Georgia, continuing to perform in original instrument ensembles such as Le Nuove Musiche. After relocating to southern California he co-founded Duo Galánt with Baroque flutist Fred Kasper. Here are some program covers from various performances and ensembles.
